Tyler Smith

Tyler Smith (a.k.a. "The Groom") graduated Summa Cum Laude ("with greatest honor") from California State University, Chico in May of 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Design (option in Information and Communication Systems) and a minor in Computer Science, and was awarded the Outstanding Student Award for having the highest GPA in the graduating class (Tyler's reaction). He is currently employed as an "Associate Consultant" with Matson & Isom Technology Consulting of Chico, California, doing Server Administration, Programming, and various other technically-oriented things, and enjoying it all immensely.

When he's not staring at a computer screen, or writing on his website (which involves a bit of screen-staring, admittedly), he sporadically reads books that catch his fancy and finds himself dreaming of someday writing something both outrageously funny and occasionally profound (on the order of "A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius" by Dave Eggers or "Me Talk Pretty One Day" by David Sedaris) or insightfully poetic and universally meaningful (on the order of "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay" by Michael Chabon or "Water Music" by T. C. Boyle) or something combining the best and worst of each to form his own style. He also enjoys making small compositions on the piano that seek to imitate the styles of George Winston, Ludovico Einaudi, and/or Jim Brickman.

When asked, he will probably tell you he is a computer nerd, however, in general, it would probably be more accurate to say that he is a sometimes forgetful, poetic, confused, stylish, nostalgic, and inordinately clumsy fellow. He's young yet, and often thinks it's clever to write about himself in the third person, but most of the time when he tries this it comes off sounding like he wrote it anyway, which sort of defeats the purpose of writing something in the third person. He's not sure why he does it, but it's probably because he doesn't know any better. The one thing he does know is that he is madly in love with a foxy young lady by the name of Tina Faris, and he can't wait to kick-start the rest of his life with her.
